April was a great month for music! Mix amazing albums with fabulous special Record Store Day releases, and it may have been the best month of 2012 yet.

As if a Jack White LP wasn’t enough, his Raconteurs pal Brendan Benson releases one in the same month. And for a tasty garnish on top, one of my favorite singers Ashley Monroe guests on a couple tracks.
I’m beyond excited for the new Fiona album to drop in June, and I’m even beyond that level excitement that I just scored tickets to see her in Hollywood in July!
I was previously lucky enough to catch Fiona at The [old] Joint here in Las Vegas back in 2006, and it was easily one of the Top 5 shows that I’ve ever attended. Absolutely mesmerizing and unforgettable.
Every Single Night is the first single from the new album, titled - in true Fiona style - The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do. Check out the handwritten lyrics on her website or here.
Iceland may be a tiny country, but its music scene is huge. Everybody’s heard of Björk and possibly Sigur Rós, but there’s a lot more music going on there than that. I’ve only scraped the surface myself, but I’d like to share a few of my favorites.
This song is from her latest album Brostinn Strengur. All of the lyrics on that album are from old poems by Icelandic women, with Helganga by Þórhildur Sveinsdóttir. Be sure to check out Lay Low’s store.
This band is blowing up right now due to their single Little Talks, so if you haven’t seen or heard them yet, now’s the time! Their new album My Head is an Animal was just released a couple of weeks ago.
As if new Glen Hansard and Pistol Annies wasn’t enough, the album is full of great artists and dramatic music inspired by the book. And thanks to Taylor Swift’s appearance, this album will get more attention.
